How to Apply

Thank you for your interest in The Science Academy STEM Magnet.

 

The application process for all LAUSD Magnet schools begins by completing and submitting the eChoices Application form. Application period opens early October and closes early November.

 

During the application period, we encourage prospective students and their parents to TOUR OUR CAMPUS to visit classrooms, labs, and extracurricular facilities during instructional time.  

 

The Science Academy is a Science Gifted Magnet. Applicants who submitted an on-time Choices application to the Science Academy will be contacted via email after the on-time application closes regarding the science-specific verification eligibility process. This process verifies eligibility for participation in the Science Gifted program. Consistent with the established alternate pathway for GATE program eligibility and participation, students applying to the Science Gifted magnet are eligible if they demonstrate critical thinking and problem solving skills  in science. 

 

All eligible students will enter the central Magnet selection process. The on-time student selection process for magnet programs is based on the Magnet Priority Point system. The sum of these points is utilized in the fair computerized selection process.

Take the mandatory assessment test.
 

4. Notification

You will be notified of your eligibility to continue in the magnet lottery process.

5. Acceptance

You will be notified of your acceptance status the following spring.
